Multi-Genre Artist.

The creative is one of the many ways you can describe the man Mike Brown. Mike Brown the artist, businessman, Charleston native, and a leader of music. He is a busy man running his own production company MB Productions, and recently released a new album. He had the spotlight on him with a recent article by the Charleston City Paper. Labeling him Soul/R&B artist of the 2020 and was well deserved. His music creations are well executed and have something for everyone.

I was able to get a short interview with him that I was stoked to do. When speaking to Mike Brown, I asked where he sees himself in the future; he said, “I see myself doing what I’m called to do. Simply make people move with my words and melodies, not just physically but also emotionally. Rather I’m making music 20 years from now or speaking on a corner. I want people to be moved by my words”. When asked what he thinks it will take to get him there, he said, “Staying true to first God and then myself. He is my creativity”.

He is heading directly to his goal with his newest release of the project, He’s Gotta Have It. Many influences are heard in this creation. He mentions his influences are Earth, Wind & Fire, rapper Kendrick Lamar and producer, and composer Quincy Jones in a past interview. When asked if anyone new has come to the influencers table for him, he said, “the artists Tobe Nwigwe, Tyler the Creator, Frank Ocean, and Chris Brown.” They all influence his music by there musicality of their works. He describes their music as “Wild, makes sense and full of substance.” These influencers helped Mike Brown conjure his own unique style.

Some notable songs off the album are “Founding Fathers,” “Juice,” and “Tonight.” Founding Fathers is brutal and unapologetic. Highlighting America’s racial injustices and attacking the paradigm of Founders Chic. “Juice” is his ferocious reminder that he’s the man and he will be watched out for. Tonight is a whole-hearted BOP I would for sure be listening to while cruising down the I526.

Take a listen to his music. If interested, you can find his Instagram below and check out his latest projects, He’s Gotta Have It and Emotions of November, out on all streaming platforms. I encourage you to buy his album if you love it. I can only see his future going up. I know I am ecstatic about his future releases.
