Few artists can be in their own corner. Choker is one of them. This Michigan-based R&B artist has shown that he can compete with the heavy waits with a future on the Queen & Slim soundtrack and streams over 800k listeners per month on Spotify. Choker is quite the name for an R&B artist. In a Complex interview, he dives into the meaning, saying,

“Choker stems from the energy and mystique surrounding old metal acts. It sounds like some spin-kick mosh shit or a band that gets banned from venues for assaulting security. I wanted a name that clashes with the type of music I make.”

Choker’s music works dive into many genres floating between pop, indie, and R&B. Breaking down into different discussions about masculinity, choice, love, etc. Check out his album Honeybloom and his newest EP Forever & a few. You will not regret it.
